Why Hire Us?

Clients today face a bewildering array of options when it comes to choosing an attorney. At Furr & Henshaw, we want to cut through that fog so you can clearly answer the question: “Why hire us?”

While every firm will represent to you that they will provide you with superior legal service, at Furr & Henshaw, we can tell you how and why we can deliver that level of service. Our firm can do so because it rests on a three-part foundation: compassion, skill and resources.

Compassion

To a person, our legal team is dedicated to making a difference in our clients’ lives. We are not just legal representatives; we are caring human beings with compassion for the people we represent as well as the community at large.

We give our clients the attention and care they deserve. By responding to phone calls and other inquiries as soon as possible, we will keep you informed and involved throughout the legal process.

We provide clear answers to your questions and straightforward explanations of your legal options. With our advice, you will be able to make informed legal decisions confidently.

Skill

Our skills come from experience. For more than 40 years, Furr & Henshaw has provided thorough legal representation in even the most complex legal disputes, trying cases in almost every county in South Carolina.

In fact, since 1968, we have tried more than 150 medical malpractice cases to a jury verdict. Defendants and their insurance companies are fully aware of our years of experience and successful track record. We leverage that awareness to your benefit in and out of the courtroom in order to maximize your recovery and protect your legal rights.

In addition to our experience in the courtroom, we enjoy the professional recognition of our peers. Mr. Furr’s receipt of prestigious honors within the legal community includes the Southern Trial Lawyers Association’s Warhorse Award in 2010 as well as the Founders Award from the South Carolina Association for Justice in 2003.

Both of our firm’s named-partners, Fayrell Furr Jr. and Charles L. Henshaw Jr., have been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. They have also been listed in the 2010 edition of South Carolina Super Lawyers, and rated by their peers as AV Preeminent through Martindale-Hubbell.*

We do not rest on our laurels. Instead, we commit ourselves to a rigorous program of ongoing professional development. These efforts include regular participation in continuing legal education seminars and activities and serving in key positions within the legal community, including the presidency of the South Carolina Association for Justice.

Resources

In addition to a compassionate approach and experienced assistance, our firm distinguishes itself in the resources it brings to each case. Your initial consultation is free of obligation and charge, and you will pay us no attorneys’ fees unless we are able to recover compensation in your case.

This means we invest our own firm resources in your case. We do this because we believe in our clients’ cases and share the risks they share as well as the rewards.

We call it “having the horses” our clients need to succeed. You know when you come to our firm for assistance that we have the resources, the horses, necessary to carry the workload. Because we devote our firm’s resources to a select few cases, particularly those involving medical malpractice, this approach helps us ensure that our clients receive the very best representation possible.

“Having the horses” allows us to work from a position of strength. We invest the resources necessary to fully prepare every case to go to trial, hire the proper experts, do the proper investigation, research every point, and take depositions of all people with information.
