Horry County Flood Relief

Hurricane Floyd gave us a pass in South Carolina but unfortunately no one could predict just how serious the floods in Horry County would be. Myrtle Beach member Fayrell Furr suggested that we pitch in to help. A call for help was issued and the membership of the SCTLA responded in a big way. In the first 24 hours of the project we were able to deliver a van full of cleaning supplies, clothing and $2,000.00 in checks to the Horry County Salvation Army. To date, the SCTLA has raised over $8,000.00. Donations came from members around the state.

Citizens Against Spouse Abuse (CASA)

Donations of household items, toiletries, clothing and toys were given to CASA. Often, their clients are forced to flee a domestic violence situation and enter their safe shelter without any of their personal belongings. With the generous donations received they were able to provide them with most of the items that they require.

Halloween Party for the Mentally and Physically Challenged Youth

Some of our staff dressed in costumes and handed out candy and prizes at the Holiday Inn West in Myrtle Beach to help make Halloween a safe and joyful time for these children. Smiles and hugs were given to us in return as the children walked through the hallways with their leaders. We even entertained with some singing and kazoo-playing. What a joyful time!

Friday Dress-Down Day

Every Friday our staff is allowed to "dress down" by wearing jeans or shorts and t-shirts or sweat shirts. All those who participate give a $1.00 donation to our "money jar". At the end of the year the money is used to buy Christmas presents and food for a needy family. This past year the money was used for cleaning supplies and financial donations for flood victim cleanup after the wrath of hurricanes visited Horry County.

Community Law Week Fundraiser

The firm participates in a benefit softball tournament to help the Waccamaw Youth Center part of the Community Law Week.
